If you are trying to install the Microsoft Junk E-Mail Reporting Add-In and you see:

“The installation is unable to proceed due to missing dependencies.”

you might be tempted to believe the documentation that indicates .NET 2.0 or greater is the only real dependency.  You also might believe that your Windows 10 runs .NET 4.x which is sometimes wrongly promoted as containing all previous versions of .NET including .NET 2.0.

If you are running Windows 10 with Outlook 2016:outlook-junk-mail-reporting-tool-missing-dependancies_sm

  1. Close Outlook
  2. Launch PROGRAMS AND FEATURES from the CONTROL PANEL
  3. Click TURN WINDOWS FEATURES ON OR OFF
  4. Select .NET FRAMEWORK 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)
  5. Click OK and wait for it to finish
  6. Double click and install the Junk E-Mail Reporting Add-In

    Hi Alson;

    Two things come to mind:
    1: The Junk Mail reporting Tool is now integrated into current versions of Outlook so the add-in is not required
    2: I would check the bitness of your add-in and Outlook. If you have an older version or a non-O365 version of Outlook and the install errors out, you might have the wrong bitness. In other words, you MIGHT be trying to install the 32 Bit plug-in on 64 Bit Outlook.
