Well, its gone… sort of:

Under Office 2003 and older you could download an “Office Resource Kit” which allowed yout to customize your office install. Under office 2007 you can’t download it and you can’t buy it! The usefull part of the kit has been cleaverly renamed OCT “Office Customization Tool” and it ships with the Open Business and Open Value licenced versions ONLY. It is hiding in the ADMIN folder and you access it by running copying the entire CD to a network share and then running SETUP.EXE /ADMIN .

Apparently the upgrade does not work well from Office 2003 and several sites have suggested that the best thing to do is UNINSTALL Office 2003 prior to the 2007 install.

Also, you may want to two turn off those two “privacy option popup” questions a user sees when first running an Office 2007 program, as follows:

Set the values in the registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\User Settings\Product code]”Count”=dword:00000001[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\General]”Authorized”=dword:00009904

I hope this helps!
