When clicking a link from Outlook you see the following error popup:

Outlook This operation has been cancelled die to restrictions on this computer

Outlook This operation has been cancelled die to restrictions on this computer

The problem is that your Browser is apparently not set as default for Outlook.  Personally, I see this whenever someone installs/uninstalls Google Chrome.

There are two ready ways to fix this:

  1. You can either use the Microsoft online FixIt tool HERE  or
  2. Fix the registry yourself using the your browsers GUI:
  • Start Internet Explorer.
  • Click the Tools icon and click Internet Options.
  • Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
  • Click the Programs tab, and then click Set programs.
  • Click Set your default programs.
  • Click to select Microsoft Outlook, and then click Set this program as default.
  • Click OK, and then close the Default Programs dialog box.
  • In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Programs tab, and then click Make default under Default web browser.
  • Click OK.
