The problem is that your Windows registry stores the name of a device in several places but if the name of a device is changed (i.e. by going to COMPUTER, right clicking on the device and selecting RENAME), Windows does not update all of those locations.  Fortunately this is easy to fix:wrong-name-in-autoplay

  1. Connect your device to your PC using a USB cable
  2. Make sure your device is named what you want in MY COMPUTER: (right clicking on the device and selecting RENAME if you don’t like the name it shows there)
  3. Start DEVICE MANAGER (click START and type DEVICE or get to it from the Control Panel)
  4. Find your device under PORTABLE DEVICES, right click on it and select UNINSTALL
  5. Disconnect your device from your PC (i.e. unplug it from the USB cable)
  6. Wait 5 seconds
  7. Connect your device to your PC using a USB cable
  8. Enjoy!
