Windows 10 Long Term Servicing Branch (LTSB) differs from the primary fork of Windows 10 (so called Current Branch CB) in more than just future enhancements.  Win 10 LTSB has three very notable programs removed from it:

  1. Cortana-Is-Not-Available-For-This-Version-Of-Windows-LTSBCORTANA: Microsoft’s personal assistant, voice command feature that works… pretty well, is just not present in LTSB.  If you click in the “Cortana” search field you and then into settings you will see
  2. STORE App and all other Modern, Metro Apps like Weather, News, Sports…: This means that you cannot install or launch any of the cool new apps which also means your START button is pretty boring without any cool live tiles
  3. EDGE Browser: Microsoft’s replacement for Internet Explorer browser is also pretty good it does note exist in Windows 10 LTSB.  Because EDGE is the future, you would think you could download it as a standalone browser (like FireFox or even older versions of IE), but as of September 2015, Microsoft has only made EDGE available on the full CB fork of Windows 10.  If you do a search to download Microsoft Edge, you will find  can download EDGE directly from Microsoft HERE but that text on that page is VERY misleading and only provides access to a marketing type Word document promoting EDGE.

Take a look at the screen shot of the Windows 10 LTSB and notice that there is no scroll bar in the ALL APPS because there are so few included in LTSB:

But, in the case of this software, it actually uses the actual Setup file of the software you download and install it without bothering the users (silent install).

But, if you are just ported yourself from Linux, then after using these command line package managers, you will completely
feel at home. Scoop is a package manager for Windows to
install software from Command line. Npackd is a very good
command line package manager for Windows. If you don’t like the
command line stuff, then you can use graphical package managers.
It works like any other package manager and supports useful features.

Though, it doesn’t come with its own software repository, but it can download you software from other repositories like NuGet.
If you want to search for a specific package in the repository, then you can replace
the “install-package” command with “find-package”.
The other package managers in this list actually
download the portable version of the software and set it up on your PC.
Also, you can use Scoop to update existing packages and list installed
packages you have installed so far.
