If you have enabled two factor authentication and/or reCaptcha in Wordfence but can no longer sign in because:

VERIFICATION REQUIRED: Additional verification is required for login. Please check the email address associated with the account for a verification link.

AND/OR

The 2FA Code Could Not Be Validated. Please Try Logging In Again

The solution is:

  1. to use and FTP program like FileZilla to get into your WordPress site
  2. rename to the WP-CONTENT > PLUGINS > WORDFENCE folder to anything else, like xxxWORDFENCE
  3. then sign into your WordPress site through the browser
    1. Note that you may have to refresh you login page to flush the previous attempts
  4. Once you have successfully logged in via the browser, use you FTP program rename to the WP-CONTENT > PLUGINS > WORDFENCE folder back to WORDFENCE
  5. refresh your browser and the WORDFENCE menu will re-appear
    1. Note that you may have to do this more than once to get WORDFENCE to appear
  6. Expand WORDFENCE > LOGIN SECURITY and disable Two Factor Authentication
