In the video below we show how to remove the 3.5″ spinning hard drive from a Seagate Expansion USB kit using everyday tools you have at home.

Usually, the disks inside USB kits spin at just 5400 RPM where are nearly all internal desktop drives rotate at 7200RPM, making for much improved data seek and transfer rates.  We were most surprised to find that our 12TB Seagate Expansion USB kit actually came with a standard 7200RPM Seagate EXOS Enterprise X16 3.5″ disk which was easily installed into a desktop PC.
