If you have a Apple Mac you can check the memory (RAM) quantity and functionality as follows:
How Much RAM Do I Have In My Mac?
- Click the Apple icon (top-left hand corner) of the screen
- Click “About This Mac” which will open a window that displays the computer’s main statistics
- The “Memory” field shows you how much RAM your computer has

- Click the Apple icon (top-left hand corner) of the screen
- Click “About This Mac” which will open a window that displays the computer’s main statistics
- Click the “System Report” button which will open a larger window containing all of your Apple Mac’s computer specifications
- Click the “Memory” menu item (on the left sidebar) and it will show you details about your computer’s “Memory Slots” which is useful when trying to figure out of upgrading your RAM can by adding to OR replacing the current RAM.
How to Check if the Memory is Healthy in My Mac?
There are 3 easy ways to check the RAM on your Mac:
A – Check Memory With The Apple System Report:
- Click the Apple icon (top-left hand corner) of the screen
- Click “About This Mac” which will open a window that displays the computer’s main statistics
- Click the “System Report” button which will open a larger window containing all of your Apple Mac’s computer specifications
- Click the “Memory” menu item (on the left sidebar) and it will show you details about your computer’s memory including the STATUS. If it shows the memory as OK, your Mac things its memory healthy.
B – Check Memory With The Apple Hardware Check in The BIOS:
- Power Down Your Mac
- Power Up Your Mac
- Press & hold the D key down
If you did it correctly the Mac will either boot into Apple Hardware Test or the Apple Diagnostics utilities.
