We will explain the different ways of migrating your Microsoft Edge Browser from one computer to another one, which might want to do if you are bought a new computer.

1 – Simple Method: Let Microsoft Edge Sync

how to have Microsoft Edge browser sync settings between computers

The easiest and fastest way to migrate your Edge settings on a different computer is to enable its built in Sync. You can do this by either:

  1. clicking on your icon in the top right corner of MS Edge and then clicking TURN ON SYNC, or
  2. clicking 3 DOTS (top right corner) > SETTINGS > PROFILES > TURN ON SYNC

Then go to your other (new?) computer and do the same thing.

Favorites/Bookmarks, Passwords, and History will all be transferred between your two computers in a very nice sync process the is pretty seamless to you.

2 – The Hard Way – Copy Edge Files & Registry

You can export HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > EDGE > PREFERENCEMACS to a .REG file from your old / source computer and then import it by double clicking on the .REG file on your new computer.

You can also copy C:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data from your old / source computer and then copy to the same location on your new computer.

However, that is relatively difficult, time consuming and does NOT copy your saved passwords.

3 – Manually – Export and Import Edge Settings

There are 4 browser settings most people want to copy from one computer to another:
