Wii 2 / II / U – The New 2011 / 2012 Wii Replacement From Nintendo

The Wii U hardware spec:

  • The Wii U CPU will be a custom IBM POWER6 chip
  • The Wii U will have a custom souped-up Radeon 4000-series R770 GPU with 1GB of RAM
  • The Wii U console will come with internal Flash memory, confirming rumors that it will not ship with an internal hard drive.
  • To Avoid Paying Licensing Fees to Sony, the Wii U will not support DVD or Blu-ray playback
  • The Will U will support USB, SD and HDMI at 1080P
  • The Wii U will have legacy support for Wii — but not GameCube
  • The Wii U controller is 6.2” 854×480 16:9 with an accelerometer and rumbler along with a front facing camera
  • The Wii U has support for up to four Wii Remotes at the same time.  All Wii controllers, including the Nunchuk, Classic Controller, and Wii Balance board are all backwards compatible.
