SOLVED: How to Change Privacy Settings For Children on Xbox One or Xbox 360

If you have an Xbox and you set your kids up as children on the Microsoft Account, you may want to edit their security and privacy settings.

SHORT WAY:

  1. Click https://account.xbox.com/en-us/Settings
  2. Click on your child’s icon / gamer tag
  3. Click PRIVACY
  4. Change the settings you want to change
  5. Click XBOX ONE ONLINE SAFETY
  6. Change the settings you want to change

LONG WAY:

How to Add a Child To Your Xbox or Windows 10 Account:

  1. Surf to Xbox.com
  2. Sign in as a parent (top right, near the SEARCH bar)
  3. Click on your own name and icon (top right where you signed in)
  4. Click MICROSOFT ACCOUNT
  5. Click ADD (top right)
  6. Enter their email address (or create a new one for them) and click SEND INVITE

How to Change A Child’s A Childs Privacy & Security Settings for Xbox or Windows

  1. Surf to Xbox.com
  2. Sign in as a parent (top right, near the SEARCH bar)
  3. Click on your own name and icon (top right where you signed in)
  4. Click MICROSOFT ACCOUNT
  5. Click FAMILY (menu bar at the top)
  6. Click on any child’s icon or name
  7. Click XBOX PRIVACY SETTINGS
  8. Sign in when prompted (Microsoft just wants to make sure you are you and not you kid)
  9. Click on your child’s icon / gamer tag
  10. Click PRIVACY
  11. Change the settings you want to change
  12. Click XBOX ONE ONLINE SAFETY
  13. Change the settings you want to change
Be sure to click SAVE (at the bottom of the page).
Also note that every time you save the page reloads and select YOU, not the last person you were on, AND it changes to PRIVACY settings.  This can be annoying if you are making a lot of changes.
