SOLVED: THE SPECIFIED ACCOUNT ALREADY EXISTS Error with MSI or EXE

I was trying to install Pulse Secure Installer Service and received the ever wonderful:

THE SPECIFIED ACCOUNT ALREADY EXISTS

on both the MSI and EXE versions of their installer on Windows 10.

The solution was to download the Microsoft install cleaner which you can do HERE.  This tool will work on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.  Remember that you MUST run this as an Administrator.

After running this CAB file and clicking the THE PROBLEM IS: INSTALL, the tool listed a large number of programs I had installed including the PULSE INSTALLER, twice.  I selected one PULSE INSTALLER and let the tool complete, then ran the tool again and selected the other PULSE INSTALLER.  After that the install completed without incident.

  • Yet another utterly useless tool from Microsoft! Never finds the program you need to install, and asks for a Product Code (which good luck figuring where the hell to find it!)

  • doesent even find the file I need to remove, seems ESET online scanner is impossible to uninstall. dont be tempted folks its useless anyway.

  • I am trying to uninstall the Nero Burning ROM 2019 but i have the following message: The specified account already exists.
The tool does not work... Any thoughts?

  • I was unable to remove a scanner driver from control panel. Tried everything from registry entry to some tools... last option i was thinking was to reimage my machine. Then I came across this article from the internet and believe me "This is a super utility" as I was able to get rid of unwanted scanner drivers.

  • Would you marry me ?
