SOLVED: How To Insert Video Into PowerPoint or Word 2010

It can appear that changes to Word and PowerPoint are few and far between, but there was some serious improvements made to handling embedded videos in Office 2013.  If you have Office 2007 or Office 2010 you will find inserting videos to be… not obvious.

Fortunately there is an easy way to insert a video into Office 2010 products without using add-ins:

  1. Start Word, Excel or PowerPoint 2007 or 2010
  2. Click the INSERT tab
  3. Click the OBJECT menu item (on far right side)
  4. Click CREATE FROM FILE tab
  5. Click BROWSE to locate the file

If the movie you want to embed is hosted on YouTube, you can follow this process.

In case you are wondering, this article was written after responding to a request from someone in Budapest, Hungary.  Given the age of Office 2007 or 2010 you might think they are dead, but you can still find them for sale on Ebay.com or even Amazon.com for practically nothing.
