SOLVED: How To Disassemble A Seagate 2.5″ Backup Plus USB Disk

If you want to remove and / or replace the disk from a Seagate Backup Plus External USB chassis, you are in the right place.

  1. Remove the Seagate USB disk from the box and any loose plastic packaging
  2. Use a flat edge screwdriver along one of the two long edges to pry the aluminum top from the plastic bottom
  3. Once two sides have been loosened with a screwdriver, use your hands to remove the aluminum top
  4. Use a flat edge screwdriver to pry the disk out of the plastic chassis (starting from the end that does NOT have the USB connector
  5. Remove the tin foil
  6. Remove the USB extension
  7. Your done, have a nice day

  • I recently ordered a USB external drive and I really hope that on the inside it has a SATA interface like most 2.5 drives do as I wanna use it as in internal one. I would have got an internal HDD in the first place but this external one was on a good discount. Thanks for this video man.
