SOLVED: Windows 11 Is Missing Snip & Sketch Snipping Tool

If you are looking for Snip & Sketch app in Windows 11, you will have difficulties locating it because Microsoft merged the old Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch into one tool which they called the Snipping Tool.

The confusion is caused by Snip & Sketch name still being applied to the “new” Snipping Tool:

  1. Snip and Sketch still appears as a distinct app in the Microsoft Store
  2. When you right click on the Snipping Tool you get a Snip & Sketch option
  3. The new Windows 11 Snipping Tool uses the old Windows 10 Snip and Sketch icon

This confusion seems needless and, while we have not talked to anyone at Microsoft dev about this, we suspect that the mess was caused by having decisions made by committee, causing the branding to be muddied.

You can see the old Windows 10 Snip and Sketch screen shot below along with the Windows 11 Snipping Tool version details:

If you want to complain you could use the Microsoft Feedback Hub app included in your Windows 11.
