Recently we were trying to upgrade from Windows 11 22H2 to Windows 11 23H2, but could not find KB5027397 in WSUS. The problem is KB5027397 doesn’t exist in WSUS . At least if you do a search for KB5027397 it does not return any results in WSUS, as shown in the screenshot below.
To get directly to the point, the problem is that Microsoft is now superseeding Enablement Packages so they don’t label the update with the KB number.
As you can see in the screenshot below, you can right click on the column titles and add in the RELEASE DATE field to help you figure out which update is most current.
You will notice there are many Windows 11, Version 23H2’s with the classification of UPGRADES. You most likely want to approve the most recent one and run the WSUS clean up to remove all of the others, which are superseded.
NOTE: To upgrade from one version of Windows eleven to the next, you need to make sure that you are running the most recent previous version and have most if not all of the patches installed on it. For example if you are trying to upgrade to Win11 23H2 but the PC’s are running Windows 11 21H2, or Windows 10, the enablement package will not work for you. Here is how Microsoft put it:
Before updating to Windows 11, version 23H2 using an enablement package, you must be running Windows 11, version 22H2. You must have the following prerequisite installed before applying this update:
