SOLVED: VIDEO: How To Use OneDrive To Request Files From Outside Your Company

Do you need a drop box, a place where people from outside of your company upload files but can’t see the other files that are already there?   Things like having forms sent in from field staff or invoices being sent from in vendors are great examples of where you might want to use this.

There are number inbound only FTP solutions but you have to pay, sign up or deal with complexity.  There is an easy one that you are probably already paying for called REQUEST FILES feature from OneDrive which is part of your Microsoft 365 account (formerly named Office 365):

  1. Sign into OneDrive.com (or Portal.Office.com and click ONEDRIVE on the left)
  2. Create a new folder
  3. Click the three dots to the right of the name and select REQUEST FILES
  4. Enter a description you want your users to see
  5. Send the link to the people you want to use the system

If you are worried about security, don’t.  The only one that can see or download the files is you.
