You would think that it would be easy to delete a user profile in Microsoft Edge browser… and it is, but it is not obvious:

how to delete a user profile in ms edge browser
  1. Click the 3 dots (Settings) in the top right corner of Microsoft Edge
  2. Click SETTINGS
  3. OPTIONAL: Click PROFILES
  4. OPTIONAL: Click SWITCH on the profile you want to delete
  5. Click the three dots (Settings), to the left of the SIGN OUT button
  6. Click REMOVE

Note that you cannot delete the last profile. Edge needs at least one profile to operate, so if you want to kill your profile, just create a new profile named something generic like USER1, and then go a back into settings to delete your profile.

24.0215, Does not work! As soon you log out and log in again, your profile with your email will appear again.

Like several other users have already said, this does not work anymore, Please, remove or update this guide. IT DOES NOT WORK.

Hi John. We just tried this process again (on 3 different computers, all runing a current version of Microsoft Edge browser) and we found this process did work. As noted, in the article, you cannot delete the last profile. Soooo, if you really want to delete the last profile, you need to create a new profile, then toggle to the old profile and delete it. If you still have problems please email us a screenshot and we will figure it out 🙂

This does not work if you have a ‘Profile 1’ that has never been registered or logged into!

Well that is annoying. Thanks for the comment Lone.

Doesn’t work when there is one profile for work and an unused ‘Profile 1’ that is not used or logged in! I need to delete the extra ‘Profile 1’ which is blocking simple access.

This is a very helpful guide to completing a profile removal. The style of numbering the steps and actions to take is outstanding.

Doesn’t work anymore. Edge just shows my login info ready to click no matter how many profiles are available.

    Hi Joel;

This does still work. Can you provide more details on your situation? Perhaps we can help.

My accounts still appears and anyone can use it and login directly

My organization has the same issue. An account set up on Profile 1 does not delete when following this exact procedure.

I have the same issue! I can’t remove my personal MS account from Edge on a public computer. Even if I sign out, anyone can sign in with my account without knowing the password only by clicking once.
