In this short Azure tutorial we demonstrate how to remove static addresses from Azure virtual machines. In particular, we show how to remove static public IP addresses.

Remember that Microsoft charges for static ip addresses so if you’re not using them or you don’t need them to be static ips, remove them and save yourself a few dollars. We also wanted to remove our static IP addresses because we wanted to reduce our attack surface.

By changing IP address every time a computer boots up, it means that a hacker would need to figure out what our ip addresses are and then try to hack into them in the time that those machines are running.
